Christmas Day lunch by the pool

Long term lets

Perhaps you want to try working in your present job but at a distance via our broadband, whilst enjoying the pleasures of living in France - something most of our previous long let tenants have done.

Or you need a base from which to look for a house to buy in this area of SW France, and want to find out what it's like living here during the winter.

Or you have a sabbatical coming up and want a period of peace and quiet in French countryside fittingly known as the French Tuscany because of its gently rolling hills.

Whatever your interests, if you rent for at least a month in the low or mid season, we offer four weeks for between 1230€ and 1565€, depending on how many months you book, plus the cost of utilities (electricity, water, and taxe d'habitation).

Low season end of October through to March.

We drove 5300 km from north of Norway and came to wonderful Pépoulie on 1 September 2018. Our car was filled with clothes and other things we will need for our 12 months stay in Pépoulie. September was warm and sunny. After such a long drive it was nice to relax by the lovely pool and have a swim when it became too hot in the sun. We have been swimming almost every day since we came and now it is late October. The surroundings of Pépoulie are as beautiful as you can see in the pictures on the Pépoulie website. The view can give you peace of mind. We look forward to staying in Pépoulie for ten more months and to experience all seasons here in south west France.

Alf and Anita, Tromsø, Norway, September 2018-August 2019

We truly enjoyed every second of our stay at Pepoulie and left with full hearts. What an incredible place you have. We are so grateful to have shared it if even for a small bit of time.

The Matheny family, Tennessee USA, October 2017-January 2018

As long term guests, searching for a house, we found Pépoulie a perfect location in the southern Tarn.  Pépoulie, in its relaxing rural setting with panoramic vistas, providing a peaceful haven from our stressful house buying exercise.
Pépoulie, located just north of the Black Mountain and close to the Pyrenees, provides a perfect base for summer holidays, winter skiing or house hunting. Even the beaches of Narbonne are within easy reach. The lively market town of Revel and the beautiful Lac St. Ferréol are just a 15-minute trip away. Pépoulie, being close to Puylaurens, has all services, shops and restaurants close to hand.
Roger was extremely helpful, with his fluent French, assisting in our many relocation tasks, including translating documents and providing knowledgeable advice on complex subjects ranging from opening French bank accounts, French-compliant wills, choice of notaire, the French health service and driving licence exchange. Roger was always ready and willing to listen and assist.
My wife and I have no hesitation in recommending Pépoulie as a holiday destination or a home from home.

A perfect place to spend time in the south of France.  We stayed at Pepoulie for 8 months. We were constantly overwhelmed by the beauty of the rural area. A perfect place to relax, cook, read, entertain guests, bicycle, walk and just be. I am sad to not be there and never got bored. Roger and Ulla were the perfect hosts, who quickly became friends. All our guests loved Pepoulie as much as we did. The pool was divine, as was relaxing by it. Local markets were excellent. Toulouse was only an hour away if you needed a city fix. We will be back as will our friends I am sure.

Over the winter of 2010/11 our family had the privilege of taking some time out of our normal lives and spending 8 weeks in Pepoulie. Roger was extremely helpful and the gîte was spacious, clean and comfortable. Our girls, 2 and 4, soon thought of it as ‘their house’ and they still ask about it today. The view of the countryside out the back door was beautiful and the colours of the fields seemed to change with the weather and the time of the day. Although we were there at a time when the rest of France was being battered by atrocious weather, Puylaurens, sitting on top of its hill, was barely affected. We had many sunny days there although it was the heart of winter.
We used Pepoulie as a base for many day trips. From the markets in Revel, to the Christmas markets in Toulouse as well as visits to Albi, Carcassonne, Foix and as far as Ax-les-Thermes in the Pyrenees - there was plenty to see and do close by. The nearby town of Castres has many shops and facilities, including a very good public swimming pool and a couple of enormous supermarchés. We spent a memorable Christmas in Puylaurens, making sure that we had Foie Gras with our roast turkey and enjoying inexpensive but excellent champagne and local wines from Gaillac.
I’m not sure that we will ever have the opportunity again to take time out of our lives and just “be somewhere else”. It was in honesty, quite extraordinary. But if anyone else ever has the opportunity or would simply like to enjoy this lovely part of France, I couldn’t recommend Pepoulie enough.

We stayed at Pépoulie on a long let from December until the end of June, and therefore we were lucky enough to experience winter, spring and summer here.  We arrived in December and we had our families over for a wonderfully relaxed Christmas.  On Christmas Eve it was warm and sunny and we all sat outside to have our lunch, then two days later on Boxing Day we were treated to lots of snow!

Throughout the winter we regularly made the two hour drive south to the Pyrenees to indulge in some skiing.  Ax-les-Thermes is the closest resort and we would definitely recommend it, there are also several other resorts nearby which are great for exploring new runs.  Ax has a good diversity of blue, red and black runs and is therefore suitable for all levels of skier.  We had a great time skiing and found that the local dish Cassoulet is perfect for warming up after a day on the slopes.

Once the skiing season was over we moved onto golf, geo-caching and cycling.  The countryside around Pépoulie is simply stunning and any chance to explore it is well worth the effort.  The weather was not always in our favour admittedly, but there were plenty of sunny days to make up for the rainy ones.  The local markets are also well worth exploring, especially the nearby one in Revel on Saturday mornings.  Toulouse which I believe is France’s 4th largest city is less than an hours drive away, although I have to admit that we never quite got around to visiting it!

The gîte itself is gorgeous, inside it is very spacious and very clean and modern.  Everything you could need is here.  The grounds are (now in summer) full of beutiful flowers and fruit trees.  Very idyllic.  The pool is perfect for swimming or just cooling off in the hot sun.  All in all Pépoulie is a very relaxing environment.  It is warm right through the evenings and we sit outside to eat and drink the lovely local wine until the sun goes down.

We have loved our time living in Pépoulie and we would fully recommend it to anyone reading this.  We plan on coming back for another family Christmas soon.  Thank-you so much to Fran and David for helping us settle in, giving us lots of local information and being there when we needed anything.  Thank you also to Roger and Ulla for their constant support and evenings spent drinking together outside in the sun.
