Pépoulie - where memories are made
Having just returned to Sweden, it's lovely to be home. But Pépoulie has meant a lot to our family. Pépoulie's location is wonderful and after having browsed the countryside during all our visits, we have a feeling that it is also unique. The house, garden and swimming pool makes life easy. People in Puylaurens and this part of France are very friendly. But that isn’t all. Roger and his late wife Ulla have managed to restore this wonderful farmhouse and its surroundings and bring it into the 21st century. They have created a wonderful haven and given us and many other guests a happy place for memories to be created and for families to come together and strengthen their bonds. It has been a place to de-stress, re-energize and to remember what's important in life and for that we are very grateful. Our children, Simon and I but also our parents and friends have cherished our stays at Pepoulie. It will stay with us forever.

We drove 5300 km from north of Norway and came to wonderful Pépoulie on 1 September 2018. Our car was filled with clothes and other things we will need for our 12 months stay in Pépoulie. September was warm and sunny. After such a long drive it was nice to relax by the lovely pool and have a swim when it became too hot in the sun. We have been swimming almost every day since we came and now it is late October. The surroundings of Pépoulie are as beautiful as you can see in the pictures on the Pépoulie website. The view can give you peace of mind. We look forward to staying in Pépoulie for ten more months and to experience all seasons here in south west France.

Just a note to say we had a wonderful week in Pépoulie again. The swimming pool, house, views and weather were all perfect. The boys especially enjoyed the pool - even cleaning it! Many thanks again, and hopefully see you again in a couple of years.

As a retired couple with daughter, husband and our two grandchildren, Pépoulie suited us perfectly, because it was spacious, large with solid stone walls that kept the indoor temperature at a comfortable level, even though the temperature outside rose above 30 degrees. A spacious kitchen and family room (stylish interior throughout the house) gave us space for our things and for the children to play with the toys of the house. The little ones (8 and 6 years old) loved swimming in the luxurious saltwater pool. They were more than happy, as were we adults to be able to cool down whenever we wanted.
Breakfast we took in front of the house under the gazebo and the evening meal on the north side of the house in the shade (the barbecues tasted delicious with good wine! ) What a breathtaking view - rolling farmland of fields, meadows, and hills!
Excursions for the children's family were within easy reach: visits to caves, and nature walks discovering the great variety of butterflies and insects.
We could walk up the hill to Puylaurens and have a coffee or a drink and practice some French with the kind café owner. A friendly little town by the way! We bought our food at the grocery store, which had a wide range of goods.
We enjoyed everything about our stay: the accommodation, the environment, the sun and the swimming, and Roger's excellent hospitality. We will be happy to return to Pépoulie!

We truly enjoyed every second of our stay at Pepoulie and left with full hearts. What an incredible place you have. We are so grateful to have shared it if even for a small bit of time.

We’re already missing our home away from home at Pépoulie after a wonderful week in early September. A beautiful setting, we felt relaxed as soon as we stepped over the threshold, especially after a delicious home-cooked meal from our host Roger and a couple of bottles of the local wine! We enjoyed a fantastic week with our young daughter (nearly two) and both sets of Grandparents. There’s plenty of space and things to keep you busy in the local area, we enjoyed walking, cycling and swimming and enjoyed our early morning walks to pick up freshly baked bread and pastries from the local patisserie. In addition to the fantastic lodgings that met all of our needs, things to keep a little one entertained (the slide, swing and sandpit were a big hit), Roger was always on hand to help out, answer any questions and was great company! The location is a real selling point as well, the ability to walk into Puylaurens and visit the local shops, as well as enjoy a first class meal at the Cap de Castel hotel without the hassle of driving, was perfect. Within easy driving reach though are the beautiful cities of Albi and Castres, with lots to do and see and we didn’t even find time to do everything we wanted! Most telling is the fact that we definitely plan to go back, I think we’ve found a little slice of French heaven that we will definitely be seeing again!

We had a wonderful time at Pepoulie in August! The gite is so beautiful and really spacious. The views all around are magnificent and we enjoyed sitting out every evening with a glass of wine, enjoying a barbecue in such a picturesque setting. The accommodation is great, there is everything you need and Roger was happy to set up the bedrooms how we wanted them before our arrival. Beautiful fruits and vegetables around the gardens which were delicious and our eldest son loved picking them. The swimming pool, swings and treehouse were enough to keep our 2 kids entertained all week, they didn’t need anything else! It was a fantastic week of R&R in the sun! We wouldn't hesitate to go back!
Thank you again Roger!

A gem waiting to be found
After having stayed at Pepoulie for the first time we keep returning. This is our third stay and we still have the same feeling of finding home in this lovely part of rural France. The whole family has found a home away from home that we love returning to.
The house is lovely and the garden with it's spectacular views over the countryside is fantastic. Looking out over the countryside is like seeing a live canvas. The pool is very good sized for swimming and playing. The garden keeps changing and for every year Roger has added something new.
The region is bustling with lots of things to see and do. Toulouse is nearby for city activities, restaurants and shopping. Day trips to Carcassonne, Albi and not to forget the Revel market (food, clothes and a bit of everything) is easily made. But we enjoyed as much the quiet country life with swimming, star gazing and morning walks to the bakeries.
If you are a foodie the abundance of great produce in the supermarkets, local shops and markets will keep you happy, busy and well fed. If you like Roquefort, we strongly recommend la Pastourelle, made in the region and can be found at Stephane's cheese van at the markets. For foodshopping we recommend SuperU in Soual for weekly shopping, the market in Puylaurens and Revel, the bakeries and patisserie are excellent in Puylaurens as well as other local shops.
We had not visited this part of France before our first stay but is has become a favourite that we have introduced family and friends to. This region and Pepoulie is a gem waiting to be found. We can strongly recommend a visit.

My husband and our 2 children spent a week in Pepoulie in August . This was our second visit , the last time being 3 years ago and it was as wonderful as we remembered. The gite is great with everything you need and the pool and grounds are so beautiful you cannot help but relax and soak it all up. Roger is a charming and friendly host who is both helpful and knowledgeable. All in all a wonderful week. Thanks Roger.

A truly great place to stay. The kids loved the pool, the swing and exploring the garden, whilst we sat back and relaxed in front of a spectacular view. Roger was incredibly helpful whilst also being discreet, and we all enjoyed exploring this typically French region.

We had a lovely stay in September, hot days by the pool, walks and bike rides
and supper outside in warm evenings, enhanced by a bottle of Roger's 'vin de Pepoulie' which we found to be smooth bodied with undertones of old carpet ...
It was lovely to be back at Pepoulie, thanks for all your help and the home produce too.

We had a lovely holiday at Pépoulie with our two children. We all loved the house and the beautiful pool and enjoyed barbecues overlooking the fields of sunflowers and the wild flowers.
We enjoyed exploring the beautiful surrounding areas. Highlights included a trip to Lautrec which coincided with the annual garlic festival, swimming in Bassin de St Ferréol, Albi and the gorgeous Cordes-sur-Ciel. My children particularly loved the nearby Cri de Tarzan and horse riding through the countryside.
Thank you Roger and Ulla for your hospitality and for ensuring we had a great holiday.

We stayed at Pepoulie from the 14th May until the 30th July 2016.
We would highly recommend Pepoulie as one of the most beautiful places for a relaxing holiday. Spacious 3 bedroom accommodation, large pool with multiple outside areas to sunbath or relax in the shade.
The local town is a 5-10 minute walk and has everything you could need. The locals are very friendly and helpful.
We were surprised by the high quality of food in restaurants we visited in the surrounding area. There are also many markets in the surrounding villages/towns. One of the best being in Revel, 15 minutes by car, on a Saturday morning. While we where there it had beautiful trays of ripe peaches for €2 each.
Roger the owner, who also lives on site, has a wealth of knowledge about the surrounding area, it was great to have a local to give us advice as required.
I would definitely stay at Pepoulie again.

As long term guests, searching for a house, we found Pépoulie a perfect location in the southern Tarn. Pépoulie, in its relaxing rural setting with panoramic vistas, providing a peaceful haven from our stressful house buying exercise.
Pépoulie, located just north of the Black Mountain and close to the Pyrenees, provides a perfect base for summer holidays, winter skiing or house hunting. Even the beaches of Narbonne are within easy reach. The lively market town of Revel and the beautiful Lac St. Ferréol are just a 15-minute trip away. Pépoulie, being close to Puylaurens, has all services, shops and restaurants close to hand.
Roger was extremely helpful, with his fluent French, assisting in our many relocation tasks, including translating documents and providing knowledgeable advice on complex subjects ranging from opening French bank accounts, French-compliant wills, choice of notaire, the French health service and driving licence exchange. Roger was always ready and willing to listen and assist.
My wife and I have no hesitation in recommending Pépoulie as a holiday destination or a home from home.

Rural France at its best! The gîte, garden and pool are great and located just outside Puylaurens. The view over the countryside is amazing. We enjoyed every moment, the sounds, sunsets, sunrises and swimming. There is lots of interesting sightseeing in the area, both nearby and within one hours driving distance. The village markets are great. We can strongly recommend both Puylaurens and Revel. My husband likes to sleep in late and I love the early mornings when no one is up. A cafe au lait at the back in the early morning sun when the countryside awakens. It is like heaven on earth.

This is a beautiful property in rural France. It is extremely well kitted out for children - stairgates, plastic crockery, highchairs, toddler chairs, loads of toys for the pool! The pool was amazing, there are steps at the side which allows for the kids to play themselves. Although it is a salt water pool, it didn't really taste salty which I was pleased about. The picture of the property attached is old as the pool is now entirely fenced in to make it safer for children. There is also a swing set and tree house in the garden which the kids loved. On a slight down side there is no air conditioning. The downstairs however was always pleasantly cool however the bedrooms could be pretty warm overnight, there are fans that can be used. I would definitely recommend this property, particularly if you have young children.

A great place to relax in the Tuscany of France! Pépoulie has an extensive garden, big pool, and fine views across rolling countryside; but it's only a few minutes walk into the lovely village of Puylaurens, with its mediaeval streets, good restaurants and no less than three artisan bakeries! Inside, Pépoulie is furnished simply but with contemporary style, and has everything necessary for comfort and cooking. This is our second visit, and won't be the last!

We spent a fabulous and relaxing Easter week in beautiful Pepoulie. The weather was just perfect, the sun was shining every day. It was even possible to swim in the pool, at least for the younger generation. And Pepoulie was just as fantastic as has been described by other guests. We really enjoyed the beautiful landscape and the peacefulness.
We had dinner in the nearby village Puylaurens several nights, which we can highly recommend. The restaurant at Cap de Castel was great (we went there twice!). Excellent service, ambience and food. They also had some nice vegetarian options (hard to come by in rural France...). We also went to L' Etoile, where the food was excellent value for money. Not as nice setting, though.
In Puylaurens there are many great shops for food. Our favorite was probably the greengrocer, located on the main street, with the fresh asparagus and strawberries and the patisserie just nearby! And don´t miss the pizza kiosk.
