Long term lets

Perhaps you want to try working in your present job but at a distance via our broadband, whilst enjoying the pleasures of living in France (something our 2008/09 long let tenants did - see what they say below). Or you need a base from which to look for a house to buy in this area of SW France, and want to find out what it's like living here during the winter. Or you want a few months of peace and quiet in the country to finish that novel, or get down to some serious painting of the countryside, villages and people.

Whatever your interests, if you rent for at least a month the charge is £400 per four weeks in the low season, and £700 per four weeks in mid season, for as many months as you like, plus the cost of utilities.

Low season: November through to March

Green = Available   Orange = Provisionally Booked   Red = Booked  (updated 14.01.10)
Weeks are counted from Saturday to Saturday, but do contact us if other days suit you better in order to take advantage of cheap airfares.

We stayed at Pépoulie on a long let from December until the end of June, and therefore we were lucky enough to experience winter, spring and summer here.  We arrived in December and we had our families over for a wonderfully relaxed Christmas.  On Christmas Eve it was warm and sunny and we all sat outside to have our lunch, then two days later on Boxing Day we were treated to lots of snow!

Throughout the winter we regularly made the two hour drive south to the Pyrenees to indulge in some skiing.  Ax-les-Thermes is the closest resort and we would definitely recommend it, there are also several other resorts nearby which are great for exploring new runs.  Ax has a good diversity of blue, red and black runs and is therefore suitable for all levels of skier.  We had a great time skiing and found that the local dish Cassoulet is perfect for warming up after a day on the slopes.

Once the skiing season was over we moved onto golf, geo-caching and cycling.  The countryside around Pépoulie is simply stunning and any chance to explore it is well worth the effort.  The weather was not always in our favour admittedly, but there were plenty of sunny days to make up for the rainy ones.  The local markets are also well worth exploring, especially the nearby one in Revel on Saturday mornings.  Toulouse which I believe is France's 4th largest city is less than an hours drive away, although I have to admit that we never quite got around to visiting it!

The gîte itself is gorgeous, inside it is very spacious and very clean and modern.  Everything you could need is here.  The grounds are (now in summer) full of beautiful flowers and fruit trees.  Very idyllic.  The pool is perfect for swimming or just cooling off in the hot sun.  All in all Pépoulie is a very relaxing environment.  It is warm right through the evenings and we sit outside to eat and drink the lovely local wine until the sun goes down.

We have loved our time living in Pépoulie and we would fully recommend it to anyone reading this.  We plan on coming back for another family Christmas soon.  Thank-you so much to Fran and David for helping us settle in, giving us lots of local information and being there when we needed anything.  Thank-you also to Roger and Ulla for their constant support and evenings spent drinking together outside in the sun.
